I remember sitting outside of the Homewood Suites in Daytona Beach after the last round of the LPGa Tour’s Qualifying School in 2011. I was crying, and I mean really crying. I had missed advancing to second stage by one lousy shot.

I grew up among one of the game’s greatest instructors, Dick Harmon. I started working with Mr. Harmon around 1999 at River Oaks. You could say that at 10 years old I didn’t understand the company I was around.
To me, Mr. Harmon was simply, “Dickie.”
Every week, my folks would drive me the 45 minutes from Spring down to River Oaks, where I was always excited to see my friend. That’s what Dickie and I were: buddies, partners, friends, who shared a common love for golf. Read more.

Hi, my name is Shannon. This is probably the point where, under different circumstances, I would shake your hand and tell you what a pleasure it is to meet you. For the next several months you’ll have the opportunity to learn a lot about me and what it takes to play professional golf.
What you’re reading now is the first of my monthly columns for Texas Links, in which I’ll take you along on my journey to the LPGA Tour. This summer I’m planning on playing in some state open champions and Symetra Tour events. The goal by the fall is to land at LPGA Qualifying School in Daytona Beach, Fla., and earn my card for the LPGA Tour for 2013. Read more.
If Shannon Fish’s life had gone according to her original plan, she wouldn’t be golfing on a Wednesday afternoon.
“Probably just be working at a law firm somewhere in Houston,” said Fish, laughing. “Picking up dry cleaning and filing papers.”
The 2010 graduate from the University of Texas put a law career on hold to take a shot at professional golf. She is playing this week at the Texas Women’s Open, a tournament she won as an amateur in 2007. Read more.
