Experience Is An Arc

My adventure on Big Break Atlantis was breath taking, frightening, thrilling and overall, simply wonderful. Participating in Big Break was an enormous undertaking that frequently leaves me speechless when people ask me what the experience was like. Frankly, it was unlike anything I have ever experienced and will quite possibly remain in a category all by itself for the rest of my life.

I cannot recall an event, golf or not, in my brief 23 years that has evoked loads of emotions in such a fleeting amount of time. Confusion, uncertainty, exhilaration, frustration, dejection all overcame me in just a few days. I am certain, however, that I would by no means trade my time in Atlantis for anything. Read more.

Smokin’ Joe Gets The Big Break with Shannon Fish

Shannon Fish grew up in a golf family. Her grandfather, a scratch golfer, and her mother, a veteran of mini tours, introduced her to the game when she was a toddler. She jokes that she has pictures as a baby toting around plastic golf clubs and taking them to the course every weekend when her parents would go play.

She also had influence from two legends in Texas – Hall-of-Famer Jackie Burke and the late swing instructor Dick Harmon.

“Mr. Burke was an acquaintance of my grandfather’s and has been a longtime friend of the family,” said Fish. “When I was growing up, I took lessons from Mr. Harmon from the time he was at River Oaks Country Club until he was at Redstone Golf Club with Charlie Epps.” Read more.

Watch Former Little Linkster on Big Break!

That is right, former STPGA Little Linkster Shannon Fish will be one of the contestants on Big Break Atlantis beginning May 14th on Golf Channel. The former Klein Oak and University of Texas golfer had to keep it a secret, even from her parents, but she has returned from the Bahamas resort in style and with confidence. Fish learned the game from her mom, Yvonne Fish, who played professionally herself. She got her first taste of competitive golf as an STPGA Little Linkster. Read more.

Spring golfer Fish-ing for Big Break on Reality television

Spring resident Shannon Fish will compete in Golf Channel’s 17th season of its popular Big Break series, Big Break Atlantis, premiering May 14 at 9 p.m. ET.

Fish, 23, turned professional in 2011 following graduation from the University of Texas, posting four top-4 finishes on the Cactus Tour in her rookie year. Earlier this week, Fish captured her first professional victory on the Cactus Tour, turning in a final round 67 to win the Penny Pulz Academy Open.

An intense competitor, Fish was introduced to the game as a child by her mother and one of the game’s all time greats – Jackie Burke. Read more.

Shannon Fish has been keeping a secret since her mysterious three-week disappearance in January.

Sworn to secrecy, the 23-year-old former University of Texas All-American was whisked away to the Bahamas in the early-morning hours of Jan. 25 to be a competitor in the 17th season of the Golf Channel’s “Big Break” reality series. Read more.
